Are you wanting to become a peace or social justice activist but not sure how?

A few simple possibilities might be...

 1. Consider waking up an hour earlier or staying up an hour later and devoting some of your precious time to participate more meaningfully in this amazing time of transition, a time like no other in history. This time is transforming all we assume we know and what we experience, not merely personally, but worldwide.

2. Start by donating (no matter how large or small) in areas that call to you and feel most compelling, urgent and important.

3. Consider volunteering at a local public school; organizing a beach clean-up with your friends or family; raising some beehives or creating a community garden; working at a soup kitchen or helping clothe some recently arrived immigrants; unionizing your workplace or starting a worker-owned cooperative.

3. Create your own flyer and post it around town. Or create a video or even a documentary – merely by using your phone. Become a visual artist, an eco-activist, a citizen scientist or a budding film-maker…

4. It is actually easier than you think to increase your participation on-line or in person. And there is so much to choose from. For example, call your local radio station's talk show host and create greater awareness about a local, state, national or global justice issue that is important to you. Research an area of importance and learn how to think and speak about it thoughtfully – in a potent manner that moves others. Consider joining a protest – or even organizing your own! Find others to collaborate with and help make manifest the solutions so much needed at this monumental time. Show up, stand up, and dare yourself to grow and make a difference. Thereby see how you, yourself, are changed, uplifted, and empowered.

Here is a simple postcard I made, for example. Please feel free to reproduce my icon anywhere – in a magazine, on a poster, as a bumper sticker or on social media – it is yours to use. We all must do our part to rescue our beleaguered Planet, The time is now or never.

Are you interested in studying and researching ancient religions in India?  If you read my paper on Jainism and  seriously want to know more about Jainism, and, if you are a college/graduate student or university professor, you might be eligible to receive a scholarship to study in India for 3-6 weeks.  The International School of Jainism Studies offers summer school courses such that earnest students of spirituality can learn more about Jainism.  From Jainism originates not only our understanding of civil disobedience and the earliest meditation techniques, but also an esoteric understanding of karma.  It was a Jain teacher that catapulted Gandhi into activism, the kind of righteous activism that brought down a seemingly invincible empire.  Should you be sincerely interested, merely contact the International School of Jainism Studies at:    http://www.isjs.in/
